Baja California, it is sometimes informally referred to as Baja California Norte, to distinguish it from both the Baja California peninsula, of which it forms the northern half, and Baja California Sur, the adjacent state that covers the southern half of the peninsula. While it is a well-established term for the northern half of the Baja California peninsula, however, its usage would not be correct, because Baja California Norte has never existed as a political designation for a state, territory, district or region.

Hurricane Henriette @ BCS

Hurricane Henriette roared toward farming states in mainland Mexico on Wednesday, threatening heavy rain and winds for large corn and tomato crops after pummeling the Pacific beach resort of Los Cabos. Henriette, a relatively weak Category 1 storm that killed seven people including a foreign tourist on its route up the Pacific coast, swept into the Gulf of California with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. Large waves were expected to batter the coastal states of Sonora and Sinaloa, where a storm last year ripped through the tomato crop, pushing up prices blamed for a brief inflation spike. The U.S. National Hurricane Center warned of coastal surges of up to 5 feet and isolated downpours of up to 12 inches in mountainous areas. "No significant change in strength is expected until landfall. Read the rest of this entry »

Explore Baja’s causal diners and other food “sources: ;-)

Yes, Baja Explorer is a little "lacking" in regards to fast progress…. we are just too busy at the moment with all the new Baja Infotheque Network developments. Until the middle of September we will only have occasional posts here.  What we need daily is food  because even in the beautiful Baja Sur we get hungry. Speaking of which, we explored and discovered - after all we are Bajaexplorer's Sealed -a great place for a casual dining experience in La Paz. "They" are bandidos but hey, no crime there!! "Bandido's Grill" in La Paz is the best BBQ hamburger joint we've found so far in the Baja. Check the place out when you visit the greater La Paz area. Chembe, the owner speaks excellent english and the service is outstanding. Visit the Bandido's Webpage, go there and have a feast!! All thumbs up in our opinion here at Infotheque Network.

FONATUR releases land in Loreto!?!

This report is not verified, we got the information from an English published free pamphlet you can find at many places foreigners frequent. According to that source FONATUR, the agency that developed Loreto, The Cabo San Lucas Marina, San Jose del Cabo and three other tourist resorts in Mexico, has put on the auction block about 11000 acres, including six miles of beach front in the Puerto Escondido area, about 10 minutes south of Loreto. The new development has been named "Golden Beach" and will be divided into three large areas. One for hotels, commercial centers and residences, a second one to develop an upper-middle class neighborhood much like they did in San Jose. Details for the development of the third area were not announced yet but the word is it will be some kind of an ecological project.
