Ensenada, Baja California, located just 70 short miles south of San Diego is under regular circumstances the perfect weekend getaway. The past days and going on to the coming weekend Ensenada is under the influence of motor sport! The grand-daddy of all off-road races the Baja 1000 will be starting the 35th time in Ensenada and the 20th time it has finished in Ensenada. This years race is a “loop-race” The finishes are at Blvd. Costero, adjacent to the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada. From the start in Ensenada the course will go east to Ojos Negros for 40 miles which will be raced in both directions during the race. Coming back through Santo Tomas then turning northeast just past Uruapan winding its way back to Ojos Negros for the final charge back to Ensenada. The race competitors in multiple classes on 2 and 4 wheels have a total of 672.85 miles (1083 kilometers) to conquer at rough and tough Baja California terrain.
